The Location
The land adjoining The Manse is found in the rural Hamlet of Dolau on the edge of the Radnor Forest. This wonderful small village which has an excellent community spirit may appear secluded at first, but look again and you will discover the famous Dolau Railway Station with regular trains on the Heart of Wales Railway Line that runs between Shrewsbury and Swansea. This renowned station which is situated in the centre of the village is cared for by an enthusiastic group of volunteers and over the years has deservedly won countless awards for its floral displays, including the best kept unmanned station in the UK and Ireland. As a result of these accolades H. M. Queen Elizabeth II unveiled a plaque at the station on 2002 commemorating her visit during the Golden Jubilee visit to Wales. Renowned for the love of arts and crafts in the area, Dolau and its surroundings are hugely popular with tourists and walkers due to the picturesque scenery and distant views over the rolling Mid Wales hills and open countryside. The area also has an abundance of popular bridleways and walks leading to neighbouring villages including ‘The Offa’s Dyke’ and ‘The Owain Glyndawr’ footpaths and of course the nearby Radnor Forest. A major benefit to area is the highly regarded Llanfihangel Rhydithon County Primary School in Dolau. The village is also serviced by a number of active social groups and clubs including indoor bowls at the modern built Community Hall, a WI group, local choir, playgroup and young farmers and youth clubs, as well as many other social gatherings and events throughout the year. All in all within the area there is something to enjoy every day of the week.

Both offer an excellent range of independent retailers and a number of supermarkets chains. A variety of dining establishments and public houses, a host of community clubs and societies and useful transport links via bus and railway stations. Llandrindod Wells and Knighton also have many sporting and recreational facilities including football, rugby, running and golf clubs, the towns also have a selection of gymnasiums, health and leisure centres.
