When you combine solicitor’s fees, survey costs, stamp duty and then throw in a hefty estate agent’s bill, moving home can become a very costly business. Holters use effective modern marketing tools but cast aside the unnecessary and expensive practices, meaning our clients never have to break the bank to get the highest quality marketing.

Having worked for traditional estate agents, founders William and Karl had long thought a number of the methods currently in practice are both outdated and extremely expensive. Their vision was to create a modern agency that offers excellent value for money, while delivering a first-class marketing package and so Holters was born.

If there’s a word to sum up what Karl brings to his role as Director of Holters, it’s ‘experience’. There isn’t much he hasn’t encountered in the world of property, he’s bought property, renovated property, sold property, been a landlord, been a tenant, bought at auction, obtained planning permission to self-build, relocated from one side of the country to the other, he’s even had a sale fall though on the day of exchange. You name it, he’s done it and that doesn’t even take into account over a decade of experience as an estate agent working across Shropshire and Mid Wales.

Bringing an enlightened and thoughtful approach to estate agency, Karl is highly tuned in to what he calls “the human aspect of the business”. He explains “In all the years I’ve been doing this I haven’t sold many houses, but I’ve sold a heck of a lot of homes. It’s a small play on words but I believe it’s a concept which is missed by many professionals in the industry. We’re not just dealing with bricks and mortar, we’re dealing with families, lives and stressful situations in which people are vulnerable both financially and emotionally. Seemingly sensible, rational people often behave completely out of character under the weight of pressure that buying or selling a home can put on them. So, to truly be a master in this profession you need to have a thorough understanding of the psychological aspect of the process and be able to handle every situation with empathy and patience. People often view estate agents simply as sales people and while this may be true of many, it isn’t true of the best”.

Away from Holters, Karl’s passion for property continues, in his role as director of a local property renovation company. His true passion however is his family and he’s never happier than when they’re all together at his home in Ludlow.

Upon leaving John Beddoes Secondary School in Presteigne at the age of 16, Will set out to gain a trade and qualified as a carpenter, working alongside an experienced general builder for 3 years and attending Coleg Powys in Newtown. Having always dreamt of becoming a property developer, Will then switched industries to concentrate on the business and selling side of property and at the age of 20 completed an apprenticeship at one of the largest independently owned estate agents in the country, where he quickly became one of the senior negotiators in their flag ship office.

By the age of 22 Will had already seen a significant change from the traditional way properties were being sold thanks largely to the internet and presence of online portals such as Rightmove & Zoopla. Together with Co-founder/director Karl Morgan, Will left his current role in traditional estate agency and setup Holters Modern Estate & Letting Agents in the summer of 2013.

Having grown up on a farm just outside the border town of Knighton, Will initially worked out of Holters’ head office in Shrewsbury, before deciding to concentrate his efforts on the areas he grew up in and knows best! These days Will is responsible for all market appraisals and property sales/lets in Knighton, Presteigne and the surrounding areas.

Outside of Holters, Will is a family man, socialite and keen sportsman. He enjoys playing golf in the summer and rugby in the winter and has represented teams including Newport and Ebbw Vale in South Wales, as well as Luctonians in Herefordshire. He currently plays for Ludlow where he also lives with partner Holly and their German Pointer dog Norman.

Property Manager for Mid Wales – Tom Jones BSc Hons MNAEA

Tom Jones

Tom joined Holters in the Spring of 2016, after gaining 12 years experience of the property market with his previous employers in Mid-Wales. Noticing the way in which the industry was changing, Tom was keen to make the move to a more modern estate agency and Holters were delighted to have him on board.

“I was keen to provide high standards of marketing to my clients, that not only raised the bar with the presentation of their homes that we offer for sale, but also the service in which I provided to them as clients”.

Tom is based in Brecon and covers the Brecon, Builth Wells and Llanwrtyd Wells areas. However having recently sold a farm in Carmarthen and a property in Kent, don’t be afraid to contact him wherever you are!

Claire joined Holters in the Summer of 2017 after relocating back to Shrewsbury. Prior to this, Claire worked in the commercial property sector for over 7 years dealing with retail and business space. Having always being intrigued by the residential property industry, she decided to take the opportunity to move into this sector. Claire is qualified member of ARLA, the Association of Residential Letting Agents, the professional body which sets and regulates the standards and levels of professionalism of its members. ARLA members are required to work within a robust Code of Practice, which covers the key stages in letting and managing a property.
